Huaier Granules Won the Ranking List of Science and Technology Competitiveness of Large Varieties of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2018


On December 26, 2018, the 4th Forum on large varieties of traditional Chinese medicine and the press conference of the report on scientific and technological competitiveness of large varieties of traditional Chinese medicine (2018 edition) was held in Beijing, and the Chinese society of traditional Chinese medicine solemnly released the report on scientific and technological competitiveness of large varieties of traditional Chinese medicine (2018 edition). The report was compiled by the Alliance of Large Varieties of Traditional Chinese Medicine in conjunction with Wanfang Data and the Research and Evaluation Office of the Chinese Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This forum is sponsored by the Chinese Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and hosted by the Alliance of Large Varieties of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Alliance of Research-oriented Chinese Medicine Hospitals.

The use value of drugs comes from clinical application, and clinical value is the core value of drugs, and it is also the basis for determining their market value and social value. The evaluation of scientific and technological competitiveness of large varieties of traditional Chinese medicine is an objective and comprehensive evaluation of scientific and technological competitiveness of Chinese patent medicines carried out by third-party industry organizations based on public data and consensus evaluation models in the industry. It can provide auxiliary evidence support for scientific and reasonable dynamic adjustment of basic medicine catalogues and medical insurance catalogues, and also provide reliable data background information for expert judgment and assist expert decision-making. In the centralized bidding and procurement of drugs in various regions, simplify the index system and strengthen product index system, the evaluation of scientific and technological competitiveness will become an important frame of reference; the management of auxiliary drugs also needs scientific decision-making. We should speak with evidence and data. The scientific and technological competitiveness of large varieties of traditional Chinese medicine can also provide important decision-making support.

At present, there are nearly 10,000 varieties of Chinese patent medicines on the market in China. Among the nearly 60,000 products, 569 major Chinese patent medicines have been selected in accordance with the principle of "high clinical value, strong scientific value, and large market value. Huaier Granule stands out with its excellent quality, detailed scientific research data and clinical evidence, and good reputation, and has become a product on the list of scientific and technological competitiveness of large varieties of traditional Chinese medicine.

Huaier Granules is a national first-class anti-cancer drug. The drug has been on the market for more than 20 years and a lot of basic research has been done to clarify the efficacy of Huaier. Such as tumor suppression, apoptosis, neovascularization inhibition, oncogene regulation, drug resistance reversal, cell information pathway, stem cells, immunology, clinical, drug active ingredients (monomer) and stability (drug fingerprint), etc., the results are effective, safe and non-toxic. More than 380 related papers have been published, including more than 60 SCI articles.

It has entered the National Health and Family Planning Commission's 2017 version of the primary liver cancer diagnosis and treatment specifications, the 2018 Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO) primary liver cancer diagnosis and treatment guidelines, the 2018 Chinese clinical practice guidelines for transarterial chemoembolization of hepatocellular carcinoma, the expert consensus on MDT team establishment and multidisciplinary joint treatment of 2014 liver cancer, the expert consensus on the use of Chinese patent medicines in palliative treatment of 2013 tumors, and the 2007 guidelines for traditional Chinese medicine liver cancer diagnosis and other guidelines, at the same time, it has also been written into the 7th/8th edition of the national general higher education five-year undergraduate "surgery" textbook.

Recently, a multi-center, randomized, parallel controlled clinical study on the prevention of recurrence and metastasis of liver cancer after radical resection of liver cancer has achieved breakthrough results. Taking Huaier can reduce the risk of recurrence by 33%, taking Huaier can reduce the risk of death by 44.7, and can effectively reduce extrahepatic metastasis. The results were published in the international authoritative medical journal ''Gut'' in May 2018. This is the first clinical study of Chinese anti-tumor Chinese medicine recognized by international authoritative peers, marking the pioneering role of Chinese traditional medicine Huaier Granules in preventing tumor recurrence and metastasis. Contribution has changed the dilemma of no medicine available after radical resection of liver cancer and filled the gap in the world.
