The prescription of Huai Qi Huang Granules consists of Sophora japonica fungus, medlar fruit and Huangjing,. Among them, Lycium barbarum and Polysiatum siberatum are listed as top grade by ancient famous doctors. The "Lycium barbarum pill" in the miracular prescription is composed of Lycium barbarum and Polysiatum siberatum, which functions as "tonifying essence and qi". The Huaier is recorded in the Tang Dynasty's "Xinxiu Materia Medica": its taste is bitter, pungent, non-toxic, and has the effects of "treating wind", "breaking blood", and "benefiting power", "treating five hemorrhoids, heartache, etc".

The three medicines are combined, both invigorating qi and nourishing yin. Huaier is partial to invigorating qi, medlar is partial to nourishing yin, and the essence of yellow is qi and yin is supplemented. Compatibility in one side, invigorating qi without stagnation of qi, nourishing yin but not over nourishing greasy, the medicine is peaceful, invigorating qi and yin, and equating the middle with strange. The three flavors belong to the five internal organs of the heart, liver, spleen, lung, and kidney. The heart governs blood, the lung governs qi, the liver contains blood but is unfamiliar, the spleen governs transportation, which is the foundation of the day after tomorrow, and the kidney contains essence and qi, which is the foundation of the innate. This prescription enters the five zang-organs, is related to the viscera, benefits the essence of the five zang-organs, nourishing the yin and fluid of the viscera, although there is not much medicinal flavor, but has the effect of taking care of the overall weakness and strengthening and nourishing.
